Privacy
This page lists exactly what the contest collects, why it is needed, where it is kept, and how to have it removed.
What is collected
From the entry form: first and last name, email address, city, and — if you choose to give them — phone number, Instagram handle, and verse type.
From the recording: the video itself, a still frame taken from it, and its duration, format and size.
From the submission itself: the page that referred you, any campaign parameters in the link you followed, your timezone, and a source label.
- Your name and city are shown publicly on the board and beside your entry once it clears review.
- Your email address, phone number and Instagram handle are never shown publicly.
What is not collected
No raw IP addresses or user agent strings are stored. Voting records keep two one-way hashes instead: one derived from a signed browser identifier, and one derived from the request's address and user agent. Neither can be turned back into the values they came from.
Where it is kept
Entry records live in the contest's own PostgreSQL database. Videos and stills live in a private Amazon S3 bucket in the United States. The bucket refuses public access: footage is only ever served through a link that expires within the hour, and the board's still frames are only served for entries that have cleared review.
How long it is kept
Entries and their footage are kept for the duration of the contest and a short period afterwards while a winner is confirmed, then deleted on request or on the retention schedule the campaign sets.
Cookies
One cookie is used, and only when you vote: a signed, HTTP-only identifier that stops the same browser voting twice for the same entry. It carries no personal information and is not used for advertising or analytics.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for corrections, or ask for the entry and its footage to be deleted. Requests are handled by the campaign team through the contact address published with the campaign.
